Tips & How To's

One of the best things about weddings and elopements is that when it comes to celebrating love, there’s no one-size-fits-all. Each couple’s love story and relationship is unique and I truly believe that their wedding day should be a reflection of that! That’s where the beauty of eloping comes into play – it’s an opportunity to break free from traditional molds and create a day that’s entirely yours.

As an adventure elopement photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless couples as they celebrate one of the most exciting adventures of their lives. What I’ve learned throughout the years from speaking with couples and planning my own elopement is that eloping isn’t about the “Instagram-worthy” location (though we of course LOVE an amazing destination); it’s about the experience, the intimacy, and the personal touches that make your day truly yours.

My own elopement was a testament to this philosophy. It was a day that reflected who we are as a couple and that’s what I aim to provide for every couple I work with. From serene mountaintops to the cozy nooks of a forest, the only limit when it comes to planning your elopement is your imagination and I’m here to help you bring your vision to life.

I like to think of myself as more than just a photographer, I consider myself a guide, a planner, and a friend, here to help you plan your dream elopement. Not to mention, when we work together you won’t have to worry about travel fees. My passion is to roam this beautiful planet and capture love stories wherever they may unfold.

So, if you’re dreaming of an elopement that breaks away from convention, one that’s as unique as your love story, you’re in the right place!  Here are ten unique elopement ideas that will inspire you to create a celebration that’s as unapologetically you as possible.

  • Get Ready Together – Start your day in a special way by getting ready with your partner. Indulge in the excitement and anticipation of your elopement side by side.
  • Do a Private Vow Reading – Make your elopement more intimate by sharing a moment before the ceremony to read your vows to each other privately.
  • Incorporate a Shared Hobby – Whether it’s painting, hiking, or cooking, include an activity you both love into your day to reflect your shared interests.
  • Personalized Attire or Accessories – Wear something that tells your story, like a custom jacket, unique jewelry, or attire that breaks from tradition.

  • Customize Your Ceremony – Create a ceremony that reflects your unique relationship. Work with your officiant on what will be said at the ceremony, incorporate a special ritual, a unique unity ceremony, play a song that reflects who you are as a couple, or include simply just work in something that signifies your journey together.
  • Host a Post-Elopement Reception – Celebrate with your family and friends after the fact. A post-elopement reception allows you to have an intimate ceremony and still share the joy with your loved ones later.
  • Involve Your Pets – If you have furry friends, include them in your elopement. They’re family too! Need a list of dog-friendly national parks? I’ve got you covered!
  • Opt for an Adventure Day After – Plan an adventure for the day after your elopement, like a hike, boat ride, or a leisurely day exploring a new place together. Personally I adore these because all of the worries and excitement of your elopement day have started to wind down and you can focus on just being in love with your new spouse.
  • Do a Themed Elopement – Whether it’s based on your favorite movie, location, era, or fantasy, a themed elopement can make your day incredibly fun and unique.
  • Plan an Eco-Friendly Elopement – Plan an environmentally conscious elopement. It can be as simple as a zero-waste policy, eco-friendly decor, or a nature conservation area as your backdrop. Even if this is not your cup of tea,  we will always be sure to practice leave no trace
